Gordie, Mikey, and Willard!!!

There's just too many things about the Comic-Con that I like that I can't point out just one major event or person to go see, although Lord of the Rings was definitely a major highlight of this year's Con. I was finally able to purchase the Evenstar that I've been drooling at since last year's Comic-Con. My next purchase from the Noble Collection will be that of Hadhafang! Of course, if the site decides to sell replicas of Legolas' bow, that plan could change very quickly. So, for now, Hadhafang is my next big purchase.
I was able to snag a cheaper replica of Aragorn's sword from swordstaff.com and it looks very lovely up on my wall.
As you can see from my pictures, I was able to finally meet Elijah Wood, along with Sean Astin, who played Sam Gamgee on LOTR and who I first saw years ago as Mikey in a favorite kid flick called The Goonies. I told Elijah that I liked him ever since I saw him in Paradise, where he played a little boy named Willard. It was that movie that tugged at my heart and made me want to watch him more and more. And there was Dominic Monaghan, who I didn't know much about, but him just being there was great. If only Billy Boyd was there. I just liked how he portrayed Pippin in the movie.
One cool surprise was getting to meet Andy Serkis. He arrived on the exhibit floor at the same time that Elijah and Dom did, so while everyone was eyeing Elijah and Dom playing Return of the King on a PS2, I pushed my way in to meet Andy and told him what an excellent job he did. It was definitely the best part of Saturday, given the fiasco on Saturday morning almost ruined the day for me. Let me just say that the people running the Con didn't expect the kinds of crowds they had on Saturday morning for Angelina Jolie's scheduled signing.

I was able to look into the Star Wars booth as well and signed up for Hyperspace. I wouldn't have signed up for Hyperspace if I didn't go check out the Star Wars panel. Apparently, they give out a lot of video stuff from the set of the movie, although I've heard that it used to be on the site for free. I don't recall anything that elaborate on the site. I did get to meet Mark Hamill, but he's somewhat rejected anything Star Wars related these days as he's just trying to help his future, not his past. And his future involves some of the best voices in animation. Too bad they're not highly recognized, except for at the Con.

Sunday was also a treat as I got to meet Quentin Tarantino. He surprised me with his knowledge of my nationality on his first shot. "You're filipino, right?" "Yeah!", I said, happily shocked. Then he started ranting to me about some filipino martial arts movie, I presume, considering his fanatacism towards martial arts and b-movies. I wasn't too excited to see his upcoming two-part movie, but it does look quite interesting now. Although I haven't seen Jackie Brown, I do believe I'll like this more than that one, even though Kill Bill part 2 is going to be shown about 3 or 5 months after the 1st part.

I should mention that I had a bit of a break from the Con on Saturday night, when I forced myself to leave so I can join my friend and his friends at the Counting Crows & John Mayer concert. Unfortunately, because of both the good events and bad events of Saturday day, I was too exhausted to truly enjoy it and left before John Mayer performed his encore songs.

I saw Wil Wheaton on Thursday and again on Sunday. Neither days did I realize he was going to be there... of course, if I bothered to go to his website, I would've known. I'm just glad he came, because his fan base has grown again as compared to the last time I saw him at the Con about 2 years ago. He's a great guy, and he definitely does have quite a beautiful wife... good for him!

Getting to talk to the Penny Arcade guys again was probably a constant annoyance to them whereas it's just a happy medium for me. At least they got lots of Pocky out of it. And Brenna was also happy to meet Sean Astin as well.

So, although I didn't even get to catch a glimpse of the "big" stars (Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman) that were appearing there on Saturday, it was still an impressive weekend full of joy and lots of walking. I'm looking forward to another exciting adventure at next year's Con, but I hope they're prepared for the crowds this time, especially if they plan on advertising as much as they did this year.
